WEB OF MAGIC: Magician P.C. Sorcar Jr. with his daughter, Maneka Sorcar.
Renowned magician P.C. Sorcar Jr. has a strong bond with the State. Addressing a press meet on his arrival to the city, he said Vazhakunnam Namboodiri, from whom he learnt the art of conjuring, was a father figure to him. No member of the Sorcar family would miss a chance to visit Kerala, he said. His daughter, Maneka Sorcar, a busy magician in her own right, had cancelled her scheduled programmes to join him on this tour, he said. However, this visit P.C. Sorcar Jr. was visiting the State after more than two decades had a surprise in store for him. As the curtain came down on his first performance in the city, a person approached him backstage and handed over a faded black and white photograph of Sorcar sitting with his teacher. "This gesture touched me," said Sorca. He now has one more memento to cherish about his master. A tour cannot be more successful, in any aspect.
