Now, everybody knows who George W. Bush is. At least, in this part of the State, this holds true. How? Sentiments against the U.S. President, now on a visit to the country, are raging in Kozhikode city, as demonstrated in the number of protests being staged here this week. Democratic Youth Federation of India activists came in procession, sweeping clean the roads with the U.S. flag and an effigy of Mr. Bush, which they set ablaze later. All-India Democratic Women's Association members covered their mouths with black cloth to show their protest. The Muslim Students' Federation convened an `international court' and symbolically hanged Bush after declaring him a `global criminal.' The Communist Party of India (Marxist), Yuva Janata Dal, National Development Front and Sunni Students' Federation were some of the parties and organisations which had organised protest marches. The Bankmen's Club organised a screening of anti-imperialist films as a mark of protest.
