PATNA: The Opposition forced four adjournments in the Bihar Assembly on Thursday, protesting U.S. President George Bush's visit to India and the police firing on students in Gaya on Wednesday. The RJD, under the leadership of Rabri Devi, staged a protest against the police firing. The Left and the Samajwadi Party also voiced their opposition to Mr. Bush's visit. The two issues dominated the Assembly as soon as it commenced its session. The Opposition members raised anti-Bush slogans and entered the well of the House, ignoring pleas of the Speaker, Udai Narain Chaudhary, to allow the House to carry on with the day's business. Mr. Chaudhary adjourned the House twice in the morning session and the post-lunch session too ran a similar course. It was only after 5 p.m. that Deputy Chief Minister S. K.Modi could make his statement.
