IG (law & order), Tamil Nadu, S.R. Jangid, addressing a press conference in Meerut to announce the operation in which two dreaded criminals were killed.
Meerut: The special task force (STF) and the Meerut police in a joint operation here on Thursday killed two dreaded criminals allegedly involved in the murder of former Tamil Nadu Minister Sudarshanam. Police recovered two country-made pistols, one dozen bullets and a motorcycle from the deceased. While interacting with mediapersons here, the IG (law & order), Tamil Nadu, S.R. Jangid, said a team of STF, Lucknow, under Additional SP Rajesh Pandey started combing operation in the jungle of Chandrashara village near Partapur region late last night. The two accused sustained major injuries in the crossfire. Among the deceased, one has been identified as Satyaveer, alias Bhura, resident of Haryana, while another is still unidentified, Mr Jangid said. Four dozen cases of murder, loot and dacoity were registered against Bhura in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, he said, adding Bhura was a leader of Bawaria gang. Both were accused in the murder of former minister of Tamil Nadu Sudarshanam in Trivellore district in January last year. -- UNI
