Aishwarya regrets missing the lunch

Mumbai: The former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai, has expressed regret over missing the opportunity to meet U.S. President George W. Bush, but thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam for inviting her for the lunch and dinner hosted for the visiting dignitary.

Her business manager Harii Singh, who received the invitation from the External Affairs Ministry on Wednesday, said here on Thursday night that the actor was away in Brazil for a shoot and that she was extremely thankful to the Prime Minister and the President for extending the invitation.

``Aishwarya Rai regrets missing the opportunity to meet Mr. and Mrs. Bush as she is not present in India,'' the manager said, adding he received the invitation around 2.30 p.m., as the star boarded a flight minutes earlier.

Mr. Singh said she was in Rio de Janeiro for the shooting of "Dhoom-2." — UNI
