Customers' meet

CHENNAI: Syndicate Bank, Egmore branch held a customers' meet on Wednesday in which K.V.S.V. Prasad, Divisional Commercial Manager, Southern Railways highlighted the strong bondage between the bank and the railway employees. About 100 customers attended the meeting. V. Kalyani, DGM, who presided, Mr Munusamy, Chief Manager, G. Lakshmi Narayanan, manager spoke at the function.

Free eye camp

The Hindu Mission hospital, Tambaram conducted its 100th Kannappar free eye camp on Wednesday at Srinivasa Nagar, Peerkankaranai, near New Perungulathur. About 150 patients were screened and 29 patients were referred to the base hospital for free eye surgery with intraocular lens. The programme started on March 2004 has till now helped to screen 12,000 patients. Another 3,498 patients were referred for free cataract with IOL surgery.

Blood donation

A blood donation camp was conducted by the blood bank of the Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu branch recently at Sri Kanyaka Paramesawar Arts and science College for women in which 38 units of blood was donated.

NSS camp

The NSS Units and RRC of the A.M.Jain College, Meenambakkam in association with Lions Club have conducted a blood donation camp at the college premises on February 27. K.Sethuraman, principal of the college inaugurated the camp. In all 120 NSS volunteers donated blood.

Technospark

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Prathuysha Engineering College organised a one-day State level technical symposium called `Technospark' 06. Students from several Engineering Colleges participated and presented technical papers. A technical Quiz was also conducted. Three best papers were selected and awarded cash prizes.

Training programme

A day long training programme on bakery products such as biscuits, cakes, rotis, buns, milk, salt and coconut biscuits is being conducted by the Urban Horticulture Development Centre (UHDC) of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Kilpauk on Tuesday, March 7 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m). Training certificates will be issued to all participants. The registration fee is Rs.300 per person. For details contact 26443551.

Mahayagnam

The Perambur Ayyappa Bhakta Jana Trust will conduct an Athirudra Mahayagnam from March 4 to 9 at the Ayyappa temple on Meenakshi Street. Every day `annadhanam' would be provided to the poor at 11-30 a.m. during the Yagnam.

Career fair

ICFAI National College will hold a two-day career fair on Friday and Saturday at their centre in Ashok Nagar. Eight companies are participating in the fair. For details contact Giridharan or Satish at 55445207/55445208.
