Girl run over by earthmover

CHENNAI: An eight-year-old girl was run over by an earthmover in an open ground at Kodungaiyur on Thursday.

Police said the girl, Bhavani, daughter of Venkatesan, a labour from Vijayawada was hired by a private mobile service provider for laying cables.

The family was living on the pavement in Ezhil Nagar in Kodungaiyur, where the cable laying work was in progress.

The earthmover ran over the child while she was asleep, police said.

The Kodungaiyur police have arrested the driver.
