VISAKHAPATNAM: After being attacked in the court premises, the media persons were forced to directly submit a complaint to the Principal District Judge. The press corps who went to the District Courts Complex on Thursday to cover the surrender of the Parawada MLA Gandi Babji complained to the Principal District Judge N. Vidya Prasad that the MLA and his followers attacked them. Video camera of a local channel was smashed and the cameraman and reporter were attacked along with the photographer of a Telugu evening daily, the scribes alleged.
Demonstration
Reporters and photographers staged a demonstration on the road in front of the court before submitting the complaint to the Principal District Judge. They all went to lodge the complaint with Mr. Vidya Prasad who heard them and accepted the complaint. He sent a notice to Mr. Babji to appear before the District Legal Services Authority (of which the District Judge is the Chairman) on March 10. A complaint was also lodged with the Two Town Police Station. Later, while talking to reporters after receiving the bail, Mr. Babji regretted the incident.
