BANGALORE: Burglars broke into the house of S.N. Pandit in Basaveshwaranagar 1st block, before fleeing with Rs. 7,500, an expensive wristwatch, silver articles and 37 gold ornaments, all estimated at Rs. 10 lakhs. Dr. Pandit discovered the theft on his return from a trip on Thursday morning. He had left on February 27. The culprits had broken the front door lock and the locks of all rooms inside before taking away the valuables. The Basaveshwaranagar police are investigating.
Man robbed
A resident of Udani Layout in Ulsoor was stabbed when he challenged an intruder's attempt to flee with valuables estimated at Rs. 40,000 from his house on Wednesday night. The culprit sprayed chilli powder on Mano Sudarshan's face and fled the scene with the valuables. After his trip to Vellore, Mr. Sudarshan was walking home on Udani Layout off Cambridge Road at about 10.50 p.m., when he noticed that someone had broken the front window. The lights in the living room were switched on.
Chilli powder used
On entering the house, he was shocked to see the intruder ready to flee with the valuables, all packed in a cloth. When challenged, the culprit sprayed chilli powder on Mr. Sudarshan. But the latter grabbed the intruder's hand. At this, the victim was stabbed on his hand. Even as he struggled in pain, the culprit escaped with the package, including Rs. 200 in cash. The Ulsoor police are investigating.
