BANGALORE: Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Basavaraj Horatti on Thursday urged community leaders, government and non-governmental organisations and various departments to collectively strive to ensure the success of the ongoing State-level comprehensive survey of children. Launching the census at Sonnappanahalli on the outskirts of the city, Mr. Horatti said the State Government is committed to impart education to all children in the age group of six to 14.
Door-to-door visits
As part of the census, teachers and non-governmental organisation activists will collect data about children in the age group of three to 14 through door-to-door visits. He urged parents to provide all the required data and ensure that their children went to schools. He wanted teachers to be committed in their survey work. Deviations from their responsibility will invite severe punishment from the Government, he said. Minister for Labour and Minorities Welfare Iqbal Ansari said the departments of Labour, Women and Child Welfare, Geology and Mines, Education and Panchayat Raj are participating in the survey.
