Holiday on March 13

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The district administration has declared a holiday for Government offices and educational institutions in the district in connection with the Attukal pongala on March 13. There will be no change in the examinations schedule, an official release said. — Staff Reporter

Telephone bills

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The last date for remitting telephone bills in the district with fine is March 6. Those who have not got the telephone bills can make the payments at the BSNL office at the LIC building, Pattom, or the Central Telephone Exchange counter at the Government Press road. — Staff Reporter

Betrayal day

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Janapaksham, a people's initiative for development, will observe March 5 as betrayal day in protest against the delay in sanctioning the Vizhinjam harbour project near here. According to a release issued here on Thursday, the Centre has deprived the State of its due in the railway budget. The Union Budget has also not granted any major project for the State. It accused the rival fronts of failing to wrest the State's rightful share from the Centre. — Staff Reporter

Governor visits Abhaya gramam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor R.L.Bhatia visited Abhaya Gramam, a unit of Abhaya, on Wednesday. He visited the inmates rehabilitation centre for the mentally challenged and the students of Abhaya Bala. President Radhakrishna Pillai and secretary Sugathakumari received the Governor. — Staff Reporter

Power supply disrupted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Power supply was disrupted at Collectorate, Pattoor, Ayurveda College, and Sreekanteswaram areas city from 10.25 p.m. to 10.45 p.m. on Thursday owing to a snag in an 11 KV line. Supply restored by 10.45 p.m., sources said. — Staff Reporter
