Protest planned against clay mining

KOLLAM: Activists of the Velichikala Action Council will organise a march to a private clay company at Velichikala on March 6 in protest against the company's clay mining activities in the area.

An agitation in this connection by the council will touch 300 days on that day. Council patron Odanavattom Vijayaprakash said that though the company had suspended mining activities for 10 months, it recently resumed mining in the area.

The mining was creating serious environment problems at Velichikala, the council activists said.
