HUBLI: A housewife who had gone for a morning walk was allegedly cheated of jewellery worth Rs. 70,000 by two conmen here on Friday. Police said Girija Chanabasappa Khot, a resident of Prashanth Colony in Vidyanagar, went for a morning walk around 7 a.m., when two unidentified persons approached her and cautioned her against thieves. They reportedly advised her to remove the ornaments she was wearing and tie them up in a handkerchief for which they offered to help. Ms. Khot believed in them and took off the ornaments. The miscreants then tied the ornaments in the handkerchief and gave a small box to her to put them in it and then vanished. It was after a while that the housewife realised that she had been duped, police said.
