Assault on DU reader condemned

NEW DELHI: The Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA) has strongly condemned the criminal assault on the Reader in the Department of Hindi, Dr. P.C. Tandon, in the Capital on Thursday.

According to a DUTA release, Dr. Tandon was beaten up by a group of hooligans when he was coming down the stairs of the Arts Faculty building after his M. Phil classes in the afternoon. DUTA has appraised the University authorities and the Station House Officer of the Maurice Nagar police station about the incident and demanded prompt arrest of the culprits.

National moot court competition at Amity

NEW DELHI: Amity Law School, an institute of the Ritnand Balved Education Foundation, will be organising its annual National Moot Court Competition soon.

This year the contest is being held in memory of the eminent jurist H. M. Seervai who is best remembered for his seminal treatise, "The Constitutional Law of India". Participants from premier law institutes across the country are expected to take part in the competition.

Award function

NEW DELHI: Jewellery Product Development Centre (JPDC), a leading jewellery design institute, will host its annual award function in Karnataka Sangh Auditorium here this Saturday.

Promoted by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) to address the growing human resource needs of the gem and jewellery industry, the event is expected to be attended by senior members of trade and industry along with representatives from the Government.

Successful students of the jewellery engineering courses run by JPDC will receive certificates from the senior members of GJEPC, while a fashion show, "Celestial Magic", will also be held.

Security week at IGI Airport

NEW DELHI: The Central Industrial Security Force has organised a "Security Week" at Indira Gandhi International Airport here. The theme of the event that was inaugurated on Friday is "Security Is Incomplete Without You!"

The event -- aimed at increasing awareness among passengers as well as security personnel working with various agencies at the airport -- was given the go-ahead by Member (Operations) of the Airports Authority of India Praveen Seth.
