GGS varsity entrance tests

NEW DELHI: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University will conduct 19 Common Entrance Tests for admission to its various programmes. All the entrance tests will be conducted in May/June. The Common Entrance Test for admission to the MBBS programme will be held on June 4.

The University has released two admission brochures, one for admission to non-engineering professional and other for engineering programmes. While admission brochures for the MBBS programme will be available from March 31, sale of brochures for other programmes is now on.

Robbed of cash

NEW DELHI: An employee of a builder was injured and allegedly robbed of Rs. 9 lakhs by two young men at Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi on Thursday.

According to the police, Yogender and Gaurav, employees of Suresh, a builder and also a chartered accountant living in Laxmi Nagar, had withdrawn Rs. 9 lakhs from Corporation Bank in Laxmi Nagar in the afternoon. They were on their way back when two young men, riding a motorcycle, intercepted them.

One of them attacked Yogender with a knife and snatched the bag in which he had kept the cash. Yogender was rushed to Walia Nursing Home where his condition was reported to be stable.

A case has been registered at the Shakarpur police station and efforts are on to identify and trace the culprits.

Alleged robbers held

NEW DELHI: Five alleged robbers were arrested at Rohini in West Delhi by the Special Cell on Thursday. Three country-made pistols, live cartridges and two stolen motorcycles were recovered from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off that some criminals were planning to commit a robbery, a team comprising Inspectors Pankaj Sood and Sandeep Malhotra, laid a trap at Mangolpur under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravi Shankar. The police spotted two suspects who were soon joined by three others.

The suspects were on their way to Rohini to commit robbery when the police rounded them up and recovered firearms from their possession. During interrogation, they identified themselves as Gulshan, Parveen Maggo, Anil, Amit and Khushal Sharma.

Auto-lifters nabbed

NEW DELHI: Four persons have been arrested by the Crime Branch on charges of their involvement in auto-thefts. The police recovered nine stolen motorcycles and a Tata-407 tempo at their instance. The accused disposed of the vehicles in Uttar Pradesh. Acting on a tip-off, Sub-Inspector Rajkumar laid a trap and arrested the accused, identified as Tasleem, Umar Mohammad, Taufeek Ahmed and Jareef Ahmed.
