Chappell received letter: Shah

Sports Reporter

Nagpur: The BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah caused a bit of a stir in the press room at the VCA Stadium on Saturday when he stepped in to presumably say hello. Cameramen and journalists surrounded him as an impromptu conference was conducted.

To no one's surprise, questions surrounded on the latest twists of the long-drawn spat between former captain Sourav Ganguly and coach Greg Chappell. The Australian in an interview to the Guardian had made it seem the player from Bengal was clinging on to captaincy for financial reasons, following which the BCCI sent an e-mail communique to Chappell warning him to confine his comments to the team's performance.

Mr. Shah confirmed that Chappell had acknowledged the receipt of the warning.

On whether Ganguly would be considered for the second Test, Shah said, "More (chairman of selectors) knows best". The board secretary also said Yuvraj Singh would most likely to be fit in time for the second Test beginning in Mohali on March 9.
