PONDICHERRY: Pondicherry presents enhanced opportunities for the local businesses and companies from Taiwan, according to Thomas Chang, Director, Taipei World Trade Centre Liaison Office, Mumbai. He was addressing a seminar on `Doing business with Taiwan,' organised by the Pondicherry Chamber of Commerce here on Saturday as part of the one-day exhibition of "Catalogue of Taiwan products" Mr. Chang said he was glad that a Special Economic Zone was being established in Pondicherry. He referred to the vibrant ties between Indian industries and Taiwan. He said the Taipei World Trade Centre was conducting such seminars and meetings with the Chambers of Commerce to open up new business avenues and to discuss trade between the local industries and Taiwanese companies. Chamber president N. Govindasamy and general secretary A. Balasubramanian spoke. Participants suggested an exchange of business delegations. K. Parthasarathy, secretary, Association of Small Scale Industries of Union Territory of Pondicherry, said Pondicherry had made a mark in engineering, food processing and plastic industries. More than 500 catalogues relating to Taiwan's major industries were on display.
