HYDERABAD : The BJP will launch an agitational programme in phases from March 7 to highlight the problems of farmers, weavers and others to pressure the Government to solve them.

In the first phase, former Union Minister Shah Nawaz Hussain would lead a dharna and a programme to lay siege to the Nalgonda Collector's office on March 7 asking the Government to pay compensation to families of the weavers who had either committed suicide or died of starvation, State BJP leaders S. V. Seshagiri Rao and K. Laxman told reporters here on Saturday.

It would be followed by a week-long relay hunger strike by Mahbubnagar BJP leaders from March 8 to focus on power shortage. In case there was no response from the Government, they would launch an indefinite fast. On March 21, a `Chalo Assembly' would be organised in which farmers affected by the Outer Ring Road would participate.

`Palle pilupu successful'

They claimed that the response from people during the just-concluded `palle pilupu' was good. About 3000 villages were covered by 32 State teams and more than 600 district-level groups during the weeklong campaign. In all the districts, there were complaints with regard to power supply and remunerative price for farm produce.
