Weaving work added to drought relief

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government has permitted dovetailing of weaving of cloth with the drought relief works in Bikaner district for the first time following a recommendation made by the Collector.

The State Government's Relief and Disaster Management Department has given instructions to the Bikaner Collector to approve the weaving works for weavers who have their own looms. The khadi thread and other material will be provided by the Khadi and Village Industries Federation, Bikaner.

An official release stated here on Saturday that the weavers would be given 50 per cent rebate in the cost of material if the cloth is sold to any department of the State Government. The remuneration to weavers under the labour component of Gramin Rozgar Yojana would be paid in cash and foodgrain in the ratio of 25:75.
