HYDERABAD: Daybreak means time for a walk, going out for milk or newspaper for most people. But for an autorickshaw driver Shaik Moiz, 27, of Moulali, the time from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. was just right for committing thefts as unsuspecting people open their doors and go out for a stroll or on some work. East Zone DCP K.V.R.N. Reddy said on Saturday that Moiz would do recce of a locality, select the house inmates of which go out in the early hours, drive to that building in an autorickshaw, collect electronic goods and speed away, the DCP explained. Two months ago, Zee television channel correspondent Prasad Bosekar saw Moiz speeding away after a theft and The correspondent managed to noted down four digits -7180- of the vehicle's registration number and alerted the police. On Friday evening, a special team led by Inspector P. Santosh Kumar and Sub-Inspector Subbaiah were checking vehicles when Moiz was found travelling in a three-wheeler having the same number along with his accomplice Shaik Javed. When grilled, they confessed to seven thefts. Based on their confession, four stolen two-wheelers and electronic goods, all worth Rs. 1.75 lakhs, were recovered.
