Asian cricket chiefs' meeting shifted to Delhi

MOHALI: The meeting of cricket board chiefs of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, who are making a joint bid for the 2011 World Cup, has been shifted from the PCA Stadium here and will now be held in New Delhi on March 12.

The shifting of the venue was necessitated as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sharad Pawar will be going abroad on a government assignment.

Confirming this here on Sunday, BCCI joint secretary M.P. Pandove revealed that the chiefs would meet in New Delhi to work out the modalities for making a joint bid to host the tournament.

According to Pandove, the BCCI president will witness the play on the first day of the second Test between India and England to be staged at the PCA Stadium from March 9 to 13.

Pawar will also inaugurate the newly constructed indoor practice facilities at the PCA Stadium built at a cost of Rs. 43 lakh, which may prove to be useful during the rainy season. — UNI
