Letters to the Editor
A historic visit has passed off peacefully if you would ignore the protests held in different centres but far away from the venues touched by President Bush. It was the elaborate security arrangements that ensured the VVIP was protected admirably well during his visit. I have not heard of a single glitch in the security cover given to Mr. Bush. This is testimony to the sharpness and alertness of our law enforcement agencies. It is at times like these that our faith in the Indian police gets recharged.
R.K. Raghavan,
Though the Government is downplaying the incident of sniffer dogs being taken around Rajghat before the Bush visit saying it was part of a standard security drill, it has hurt the sentiments of millions of Indians. Rajghat is a sacred place where people remove their footwear. If the Prime Minister's action of breaking protocol to receive Mr. Bush at the airport was disappointing, the decision to allow sniffer dogs at Rajghat is shocking.
K. Murlidar,
It is an insult to the entire nation.
B.R. Haran,
