Diwakar Reddy objects to presence of media at meeting

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party spokesperson S. Venugopalachari condemned Panchayat Raj Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy's behaviour in asking media persons not to be present at the District Development Review Committee meeting in Krishna district on Sunday.

At the instance of others, Mr. Reddy is understood to have objected to the presence of the media representatives who covered such meetings earlier and instead asked them to wait for an official briefing.

The TDP leader said the subject of Vigilance Commissioner R.C. Samal also figured extensively.

At least two Ministers, Mr. Diwakar Reddy and N. Raghuveera Reddy (Agriculture), he said, had sought action against the official.

In the past 22 months of Congress rule, there were several instances where officials, who did not heed the Congress diktat, were harassed.
