Sonia to decide on Tiwari: Vora

Dehra Dun: Senior Congress leader Moti Lal Vora, after a meeting with Chief Minister N.D. Tiwari who had announced his desire to be relieved, said party President Sonia Gandhi would take a decision. Emerging from the hour-long meeting with Mr. Tiwari at his official residence here, Mr. Vora told reporters that the Chief Minister would meet Ms. Gandhi soon and a decision would be taken.

Mr. Vora said he would appraise the party high command of the political situation in the State that goes to Assembly polls next year. However, he refused to comment when asked whether the Assembly elections would be held under Mr. Tiwari's leadership.

Mr. Tiwari had been sulking for quiet sometime for allegedly being marginalised in the Congress hierarchy.

The 81-year-old leader had kept away from the AICC plenary in Hyderabad in January and was also not nominated to the all-powerful Congress Working Committee that was reconstituted ahead of the plenary. — PTI
