VIJAYAWADA: All the speakers representing various religions at a symposium organised by Jammat-e-Islami Hind on "Equality among human beings" here on Sunday, stressed on the need for spreading the concept of universal brotherhood and religious tolerance for the benefit of the society.
Call for unity
Speaking at the seminar, Bishop of Vijayawada Diocese Mallavarapu Prakash said for centuries, India emerged as a shining example for its `unity in diversity'. He asked everyone to rise above the religious, caste and creed barriers, and spread love and care among fellow human beings. "In the eyes of the Almighty, all are same and equal. The inequality is the creation of human beings and together we should overcome the hurdle," he said. P. Veera Brahmam of Sri Satya Baba Samithi said all the religions preach love and compassion. "Anyone who helps others is considered as a human being. Though we have various religions, the path to reach the Almighty is one. We need to travel together to reach him." Sardar Harmohinjder Singh Sahni, president, Sri Gurunanak Society, emphasised the need to accord equal status to women in all walks of life. Janab Mohammamd Afzal, JIH, Nellore District, Chitturi Kumudakar of Religious Harmony took part in the seminar.
