BANGALORE: A car is still that big status symbol, and of course, just a step away from the two-wheeler. Starting off with a Maruti 800 or a Tata Indica, a Bangalorean would easily step on the mid-segment and beyond.
Best day
For a good drive, Sunday is still the best day. Old timers would of course point to the roads getting crowded even on holidays. But for rally organisers, there is not much of a choice either. And so, we had a car rally on Sunday organised by the Bangalore-based Tafe Access Limited. Aiyappa, Joint Commissioner of the Transport Department, flagged off the car rally. The rally was organised under the banner of "SkodaClub." Similar car rallies have been organised in Aurangabad and Kochi. The rally covered 15 significant landmark points that gave Bangalore its new identity as the IT hub and other historic locations in and around the city. The participants were segregated into different groups wherein each group was given clues. The car owners had to follow the clues and complete the rally successfully.
Felicitation
Mr. Aiyappa felicitated Vinod Uthappa, winner of the rally. SkodaAuto, the brain behind SkodaClub, has been in India since November 2001.
