TIRUPATI: Sants, sadhus and mutt heads on Sunday said here that there was a need to reach out to villages and slums, as this was the only to protect `dharma' and keep Hinduism vibrant. Their new proposal came at the concluding session of the 11th South India `Dharma Sansad,' policy-making convention of the Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP). Some sadhus spoke about inculcating moral values to "resurrect society." A number of them wanted to reach out to villages to counter the operation of "alien religions." Ayodhya issue The sants reposed confidence in the judiciary on the Ayodhya tangle. The Sansad, through a resolution, evolved a consensus to create a substantial "Hindu vote bank." It said the vote bank would support any party and individuals who fulfilled Hindus' demands. During the meet, sixth and last in the series of "Dharma Sansads," discussions were held on "contentious issues," such as Ayodhya, religious conversions terrorism and cow slaughter. Accusing the UPA Government of resorting to minority appeasement, the meet raised concerns over religious conversions. Many other resolutions were adopted at the religious meet. Rally taken out A rally was taken out and it culminated in a public meeting. The conclave was attended, among others, by Vishwa Hindu Parishad international president Ashok Singhal and the Parishad's all-India general secretary Pravin Togadia.
