HYDERABAD: Care Hospital is introducing bone-anchored hearing aid (BAHA) surgery in cooperation with Cochlear Ltd, Australia. It will benefit persons with conductive or mixed hearing loss due to chronic ear infections, absence of earlobes/ear canals and those with single sided deafness (SSD). N.Vishnu Swaroop Reddy, ENT consultant and facial plastic surgeon, and representatives of Bangalore-based Pika Medical Pvt Ltd, distributors of the hearing aid device, told a press conference here that the surgery was a solution for hearing, speech and language development in children with malformation in their outer and middle ears. Dr. Reddy said every year about new 200 cases SSD per million people were detected in the world. He said people could consult him on March 12 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the ENT OPD.
