Light rainfall in city
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
The city received light rainfall on Sunday. According to the Meteorological Department, the rainfall recorded was 0.2 mm (till 8.30 p.m.), while it was 1 mm at the airport.
It started raining around 7 p.m. and lasted for nearly an hour. Thunder and lightning continued throughout the night.
There were reports of tree fall from Mathikere and Kodigehalli. However, there were no traffic hold-ups.
According to Anand L. Koppar, Director of the Meteorological Department, the city will receive another spell of rain in the next two days. He said this pre-monsoon rainfall was because of thunderstorm activity trigged by the instability caused due to heat and other atmospheric factors.
He said pre-monsoon rainfall generally occurs in mid-March in the city and it has happened a week early this time.
