LONDON: A British newspaper columnist who wrote that she helped a relative to die in the 1960s now faces a police investigation. Maureen Messent, 67, a columnist for the Birmingham Mail, was arrested on Thursday and released on bail pending a further appearance on June 23. She wrote in her February 3 column that she had administered a fatal dose of morphine to her great aunt, Eileen O'Sullivan, in her 80s and dying of cancer. Ms. Messent, a Roman Catholic, said she wrote the column to support calls for a limited legalisation of euthanasia. AP
