dated March 7, 1956: Hutton's official farewell

Members of the England team Hutton led in Australia a year ago were present in force at a gathering in London at which Hutton said his official farewell to cricket. Hutton, who announced his retirement from first-class cricket recently, was presented with a cocktail cabinet by the National Sporting Club. Hutton's successor as England captain, May, was present at the function; so were Cowdrey, Bailey, Statham, Tyson, Compton and Graveney,. There were also the former captains, G.O. Allen and F.R. Brown.
