KOLLAM: In a suicide pact, four members of a family at Thevalakara in Chavara, near here, died on Monday. The police said preliminary examination revealed that consumption of poison had led to the deaths. The deceased have been identified as Sunil Antony, 38; his wife, Sudha, 32; son, Sudhi, 7; and daughter, Clara, 10-months-old. The police recovered a suicide note reportedly written by Sunil. It was Sunil's mother, Celine, who first saw the four lying motionless inside the house. She raised an alarm and the neighbours rushed in. They found Clara alive and rushed her to Karunagapally Taluk Hospital and later to District Hospital. However, Clara was declared dead on arrival. Sunil, who had recently returned from the Gulf, had engaged himself in manpower recruitment to the Gulf. As per the suicide note, he was forced to take the step after things failed to work out. The bodies were handed over to the relatives after a post-mortem examination at District Hospital.
