Jaya Bachchan may move Supreme Court

New Delhi: Film star-turned politician Jaya Bachchan on Monday said she might move the Supreme Court against the Election Commission's recommendation to disqualify her [as member of Rajya Sabha] for holding an office of profit.

"Definitely. Why not?" the Samajwadi Party MP shot back when asked about it.

Dismissing as "political" the motive behind the complaint seeking her disqualification, she said it had come from the Congress party. She has not been informed of such a decision, she said.

She quoted a verse written by her father-in-law Harivansh Rai Bachchan which meant there was a limit to saying something and to tolerance and added the lines were relevant now. — PTI
