TIRUPUR: Nearly 300 persons, including 200 women, observed a day-long fast on Monday urging the State Government to order CBCID probe into the death of two students on the premises of a private school in Avanashi, 12 km from here. A non-Governmental organisation, Centre for Social Education and Development, has organised the protest. Presiding over the function, the director of the NGO, C. Nambi, charged the Education Department officials with lethargic attitude. He insisted that a compensation of Rs.10 lakhs each should be given to families of the students. All-India Senior Citizens and Pensioners Federation president A. Swaminathan also participated in the agitation. The agitators demanded stern action against the guilty and the lethargic Government officials.
