LOST IN THOUGHTS: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy at a seminar in Bangalore on Monday.
Bangalore: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday reiterated that the coalition Government will take up all development works in 15 months and improve infrastructure to attract investments to the State. Speaking at a seminar on "Vibrant Karnataka Achieving Dr. Kalam's Vision by 2012" organised by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry, he said that he is not "opposed" to Information Technology and Biotechnology companies operating in the State. "There is no cause for concern. My Government is not against IT and BT companies. We will extend all support and assistance to IT and BT firms. But, at the same time, we will also extend all facilities to companies that are functioning on the outskirts of Bangalore," he said. Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said the Government will set up a high-level committee to realise the vision outlined by Dr. Kalam in his address to the Karnataka legislature on November 20 last. M.C. Shanta Murthy, economist and Honorary Secretary, Institute of Parliamentary Affairs, Bangalore, gave a presentation on the vision of Dr. Kalam that identifies 11 Missions for the State to raise the per capita income to Rs. 75,000 by 2009, create an investment friendly climate to create employment avenues for two million unemployed people in the State and to achieve 100 per cent literacy by 2012.
