Youth arrested

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kazhakkuttom police, on Monday, have arrested a 22-year-old youth in connection with a murder attempt on an Ayurveda doctor at St. Andrews junction early this year.

Circle Inspector Muhammad Iqbal identified the accused as Ani alias `Puttu' Ani. He said the doctor was attacked because he resisted the extortion bids made by Ani's gang. The accused was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

Robbery: one held

The Fort police, on Monday, arrested an 18-year-old youth on the charge of waylaying a pedestrian at Eenchakkal last week. The police identified the accused as Abhilash alias Manu.

Theft of lottery tickets

The Fort police have registered a case against two persons in connection with the theft of lottery tickers from an agent in East Fort.
