NEW DELHI: While music-lovers enjoyed the last day of "Jahan-e-Khusrau'' in Arab-ki -Sarai at Humanyun's Tomb here on Monday, the Sufi music festival has left Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials far from pleased. Taking a strong note of the sale of tickets by patron Muzaffar Ali, ASI has sent a formal notice to him. "He had no permission to sell tickets for the festival. The general policy followed by ASI is that no tickets are allowed to be sold for festivals. After he sold them, it was impossible for us to do anything, but we have issued a formal notice to him,'' said a senior ASI official. "Permission was given to the organisers from March 3, but they started working from February 28. Nizammudin is a residential area and workers were apparently hammering away till late in the night. This has got many people in the colony upset. They started calling up the office from early in the morning,'' said an official. Officials claimed that they had to then tell the organisers that they must stick to the timing of the monument. "Humanyun's Tomb opens for morning walkers at 6 a.m. and shuts at the same time in the evening. However, the organisers have taken special permission from us to hold the programme till 10 p.m. in the monument,'' said the official. This is not the first time the festival has run into trouble. The last time was during the tenure of Union Minister for Culture Jagmohan when he objected to the monument being used as a free space. It is learnt that senior officials might re-examine giving it permission next year.
