THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: District and Sessions Judge D. Pappachan has directed K.K. Rajan, director, Local Fund Audit Department, to surrender his passport at the Peroorkada police station and not to leave the country without obtaining the permission of the court. The directive comes in the wake of a petition filed by Santhosh Kumar, resident of Vanchiyoor, alleging that Rajan, an accused in a cheating case involving the petitioner, had applied for a leave of five years from Government service to go abroad. The trial in the cheating case is currently pending before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court II. Santhosh Kumar, in a complaint filed before the magistrate court, had stated that he had been cheated by Rajan who after entering into an agreement with him regarding the sale of a property worth Rs.41 lakhs in Thodupuzha in September last, violated the deal by selling it to a different person.
