LEAVING NOTHING TO CHANCE: A dog squad of the police conducts searching operations at Fatima Mata National College following Tuesday's bomb threat.
KOLLAM: Bomb threats on Tuesday morning at Fatima Mata National College and S.N. College proved to a hoax. The police control room received an anonymous call early Tuesday morning stating that two powerful bombs had been planted at the two colleges and would explode at 9 a.m. The police immediately informed the college authorities about the phone call and rushed to the campuses for a combing operation. The Anti-Sabotage Team and the dog squad led the search. Since the degree examination were to commence at 9.30 a.m., teachers and students were present on the premises of the colleges. The incident did not disrupt the examination schedule. The police first searched the classrooms where the examinations were to be conducted. By the time the examinations began, the search shifted to other areas on the campus. The police said the compound and premises were thoroughly searched but no explosives were found. The police said since the control room telephone did not have a caller identifier, they could not locate from where the call was made. Kollam East Circle Inspector Vinod Kumar led the search team.
