Bidar: The former Minister Basavaraj Patil Humnabad has accused the Janata Dal (Secular)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Coalition Government of trying to hijack development programmes initiated by the previous Congress Government. Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur is laying the foundation stone for drinking water supply scheme for Humnabad and Chitaguppa and ten other villages, in Humnabad on Wednesday. But the foundation stone for the same scheme was laid by the then Water Resources Minister Mallikarjun Kharge in 2004, Mr. Humnabad said.
Stone-laying ceremony
In a statement, Mr. Humnabad and other Congress leaders asked the Government to save money spent on the stone laying ceremony and spend it on welfare programmes. But he Janata Dal (S) leaders have refuted this allegation. "It is true that the foundation stone is being laid for the second time. However, our intention is not to claim credit for any Congress programme," said the party taluk unit president Babanrao Biradar. He alleged that the Congress leaders had laid the foundation stone "just to fool the people. They laid the foundation stone and forgot all about it. "If the Congress was serious about the scheme, why did it not ensure that it was completed on time?" Mr. Biradar sought to know. MLAs Mirajuddin Patel, Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli, Prakash Khandre, Mallikarjun Khuba, Rajendra Verma, and Bidar Zilla Panchayat president Anil Bhusare will participate in Wednesday's function.
