As the world celebrates International Women's Day, concrete steps, rather than just greetings and statements, are needed to improve the women's lot. Everyone talks of empowering women but when it comes to giving them the reins, the patriarchal society resists even a small move. The Women's Reservation Bill is a case in point.

Perhaps the biggest change that has taken place is the presence of women in all fields. They are everywhere. It is undoubtedly welcome because I believe women have better intuition and a greater sense of responsibility. They are more sensitive to others' needs.
