Three students of Nav Kala Creation came up with a novel idea to welcome U.S. President George W. Bush during his high-profile visit to the country this past week. Anshita Singhal, Surya Anchal and Amit Gupta made a pencil sketch of the world's most powerful leader and even tried to gift it to him. "With a feeling of `atithi devo bhava' we wanted to present the sketch to the U.S. President. But security concerns surrounding his maiden visit to India made it impossible for us to gift it to him," says Anshita. Inspired by the U.S. President's charisma and his stature among the world leaders, the artists got down to sketch him with an ordinary pencil. "Since Mr. Bush was not present before us in person, we had no option but to cut out his picture from an Indian newsmagazine and study it carefully," reveals Amit. Moreover, the sketch of a smiling Mr. Bush was complex in nature as it was made by not one but three different artists in three days. Though their efforts to present the sketch to the U.S. President went in vain, the three artists will soon mount an exhibition of sketches of the Nehru-Gandhi family in the Capital. -- Madhur Tankha
