BANGALORE: Work on the Bangalore Metro Rail Project is likely to be launched shortly with Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Tuesday directing the officials concerned to initiate measures and complete the formalities connected with it. "The project should take off within a few days and not months," he said. Though he did not he said it would be a system suitable to the city. All that he wants is to save the people from the traffic congestion on the city's roads. While the Union Government will provide its share of Rs. 1,600 crore, Japan Bank will give a loan. The State Government would release the balance amount. Asked whether the Union Government's share is less than what was expected (Rs. 12,000 crore) the Chief Minister said it is a sensitive issue.
