VISAKHAPATNAM: Young Andhra player M.S. Deepak Kumar's sterling all-round show, a hat-trick and a fine century went in vain as Vizag Blues went down by 30 runs to City CC in the pre-quarterfinals of 13th The Hindu Trophy cricket tournament here on Tuesday. City CC made 284 runs thanks to K.V.S. Anil (77, 5x4) who added 67 runs for the second wicket with G.V.V.V.S. Kamalakara Rao (33) and B. Penta Rao's (58) 70-run stand for the fifth wicket with K. Shankar (26). Though Deepak sparkled (121,1x6, 13x4), Vizag Blues were bowled out for 254 in the 48th over. In the other match, S. Suresh Kumar performed a fine all-round show to help Luxury CC beat Avengers CC by three wickets. Suresh Kumar picked up four wickets to restrict Avengers to 138. Later when his side was in trouble while chasing, Suresh Kumar (28) along with Sk. Hussain (18) saw the team through with the help of an unbroken 45-run stand for the eighth wicket. The scores: City CC 284 for nine in 50 overs (K.V.S. Anil 77, B. Penta Rao 58) bt Vizag Blues 254 in 47.5 overs (M.S. Deepak Kumar 121); Avengers CC 138 in 40 overs (R. Kennedy 41, S.
