ERODE: People who use the Bhavani river water develop various skin diseases as the discharge of untreated effluents into the river continues unabated. The residents of Perumthalaiyur village near Kavindapady said that some industries situated on the banks of Bhavani river were discharging the effluents into the river with out treatment. Villagers said they have already made a complaint with the Pollution Control Board, who instructed the industries to install Reverse Osmosis plants. But despite the warning, the industries were discharging the effluents. Villagers urged immediate action against the erring industries.
