Hospital official summoned in Bharati Urs case

Staff Reporter

She has not undergone surgery, court told

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the Superintendent of the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology, Bangalore, to be present in court on Wednesday to enable it to ascertain details of the health condition of Bharati Urs, daughter of late D. Devaraj Urs, former Chief Minister.

Justice Huluvadi G. Ramesh passed the order on a petition by Sharada Chandrakant Raje Urs, wife of late M.P. Chandrakant Raje Urs, former Judge of the High Court.

The petitioner said that on February 28 the High Court permitted Ms. Bharati Urs to undergo medical treatment at any of three private hospitals of her choice. She and the others accused were arrested by the High Grounds police in connection with the murder of her cousin, Chitralekha Urs, daughter of Ms. Sharada and Chandrakant Raje Urs.

Ms. Urs moved the High Court for bail, and said she had eight cardiac blockages and wanted treatment in a hospital of her choice. The court gave her three months for a surgery.

Ms. Sharada said that though many months had passed, Ms. Urs had not undergone an operation.

She was still in hospital, under custody. She urged the court to summon the doctor and examine him.
