Security at High Court to be tightened
Staff Reporter
Bangalore:
As part of steps to improve security at the Karnataka High Court, patrolling around the court building will be introduced and entry of members of the public monitored. Fourteen policemen will be armed with rifles.
Earlier, police personnel were posted in the corridors of the court building. Fifty-five policemen have been posted at the High Court police station.
Sources said security can be tightened if litigants and others coming to the court are given identity cards.
Police officials say that following an attempt by miscreants to fell sandalwood trees in the compound of Chief Justice of the High Court Cyriac Joseph's residence on Palace Road last week, the security arrangements were reviewed.
Sources said there are sandalwood trees behind the High Court building, and policemen have been asked to be vigilant. Work on putting up fences around the High Court building will begin soon.
