"His father denied the school's version that the boy committed suicide"

CHENNAI:
A fact-finding team, which probed the circumstances under which a schoolboy died at Avinashi in Coimbatore district last month, has sought a judicial inquiry.
This will bring out the truth and should serve as a lesson for other schools, office-bearers of the Tamil Nadu Alliance for Right to Education and Equity, the Peoples Forum for Human Rights and the Campaign Against Child Trafficking told presspersons here on Tuesday.
Virgil D. Sami and Then Pandian, convenors of the TNAREE and PFHR, said mystery shrouded the death of S. Nachimuthu, a Standard VIII student. They and the boy's father, Saminathan, who made a living by selling plastic wares and running the merry-go-round in festivals and fairs, denied the school's version that the boy committed suicide owing to stomach pain. Saminathan suspected foul play.
The team recommended that the management pay a compensation of Rs.10 lakh to the family of Nachimuthu and that the State Human Rights Commission conduct an inquiry.
