Coimbatore surgeon conferred with B.C. Roy Award

COIMBATORE: The Medical Council of India has conferred the Dr.B.C. Roy National Award for 2005 in `development of specialities' category on city-based gastroenterologist and laparoscopic surgeon C. Palanivelu.

The award carries Rs. 1 lakh and a medal, Dr. Palanivelu, director of GEM Hospital told reporters here on Tuesday. He is president-elect of the Association of Surgeons of India and founder president of the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India.
