Seminar on history of Kollam to be held on Thursday

KOLLAM: The Department of History attached to Government College, Chavara, is organising a seminar on "Kollam through the centuries". The seminar to be held at the college on March 9 will be inaugurated by the historian M.G.S. Narayanan.

Subjects to be taken up at the technical sessions of the seminar are the history of Deshinganad: a study of the Buddhist traditions in Kollam, Kollam in transition: the institutional changes and its dynamics, geo-archaeological studies in Kollam district, evolution of the public sphere in modern Kerala: analysis of the Theosophical Lodge in Kollam, social transformation in modern Travancore: significant social issues in Kollam and Kollam: a local economy in global context.
